What is there in a Brahmin that all The world is after Brahmins. The answer is as follows. Goswami Tulsidas in Ramcharitmanas has written that Lord Shri Ram told Bhargav Parshuram that -

"देव एक गुन धनुष हमारे।

नौ गुन परम पुनीत तुम्हारे।।"

"deva eka guna dhanuṣa hamāre|

nau guna parama punīta tumhāre||"

Oh Lord, we are Kshatriyas, we have only one quality that is the bravery or fighting skills (dhanurved) but you are a Brahmin, in you there are 9 qualities. The most sacred 9 qualities are as follows:

Nine qualities of Brahmin :-

रिजुः तपस्वी सन्तोषी क्षमाशीलो जितेन्द्रियः।

दाता शूरो दयालुश्च ब्राह्मणो नवभिर्गुणैः।।

rijuḥ tapasvī santoṣī kṣamāśīlo jitendriyaḥ|

dātā śūro dayāluśca brāhmaṇo navabhirguṇaiḥ||

- Rijuh = down to earth,

- Tapasvi = one who does penance,

- Santoshi = satisfied with hard earned money,

- Kshamashilo = forgiving,

- Jitendriyah = having full control over the senses,

- Daataa = charitable,

- Shur = brave,

- Dayaluchch= kind to everyone,

- Brahmagyani = truly self realised

In the 18th chapter of Srimad Bhagavad Gita 9 qualities of a Brahmin in 42nd verse are explained as follows:

" शमो दमस्तप: शौचं क्षान्तिरार्जवमेव च।

ज्ञानं विज्ञानमास्तिक्यं ब्रह्म कर्म स्वभावजम्।।"

" śamo damastapa: śaucaṃ kṣāntirārjavameva ca|

jñānaṃ vijñānamāstikyaṃ brahma karma svabhāvajam||"

That is, to control the mind, to control the senses. To do penance (endure suffering for the sake of following religion), Shauchha (to remain pure from inside and outside), Forgiveness (forgiving forgivable offences), arjavam (Keeping simplicity in body, mind etc., Having full faith in Vedas, Shastras etc. To have knowledge, to be expert in the method of Yagya. And Keeping theistic feeling in God, Vedas etc. all these are the natural actions of Brahmins.

In the previous verse it is said - “Svabhavaprabhavairgunaih“. Which means that "it is a natural action". Birth is the most important factor in forming one's nature. Then company or sangati is the main thing. Self-study, practice etc. can also help in this course. Due to this, karma becomes a quality in nature.

दैवाधीनं जगत सर्वं , मन्त्रा धीनाश्च देवता:।

ते मंत्रा: ब्राह्मणा धीना: , तस्माद् ब्राह्मण देवता:।।

धिग्बलं क्षत्रिय बलं,ब्रह्म तेजो बलम बलम्।

एकेन ब्रह्म दण्डेन,सर्व शस्त्राणि हतानि च।।

daivādhīnaṃ jagata sarvaṃ , mantrā dhīnāśca devatā:|

te maṃtrā: brāhmaṇā dhīnā: , tasmād brāhmaṇa devatā:||

dhigbalaṃ kṣatriya balaṃ,brahma tejo balama balam|

ekena brahma daṇḍena,sarva śastrāṇi hatāni ca||

In this verse also, renunciation and penance are defeated by virtue with the power of Gayatri Sandhya and today people are abandoning that itself, and still hold on to the feeling of being worshipped by others.

विप्रो वृक्षस्तस्य मूलं च सन्ध्या।

वेदा: शाखा धर्मकर्माणि पत्रम् ll

तस्मान्मूलं यत्नतो रक्षणीयं।

छिन्ने मूले नैव शाखा न पत्रम् ll

vipro vṛkṣastasya mūlaṃ ca sandhyā|

vedā: śākhā dharmakarmāṇi patram l|

tasmānmūlaṃ yatnato rakṣaṇīyaṃ|

chinne mūle naiva śākhā na patram ll

Meaning: Brahmin, knowledgeable and scholar of Vedas is like a tree whose root is Sandhya. In the three divisions of the day: morning, noon and evening, the three Sandhyas should be performed by the Bramhan, without fail Gayatri Mantra has to be chanted, all the four Vedas are the Branches and principles of Vedic religion are the leaves of that tree.

Therefore, it is the duty of every Brahmin to, Protect this root of Sandhya diligently, Because if the root itself is destroyed then neither Neither the branches nor the leaves will survive.

It is said in the Puranas -

विप्राणां यत्र पूज्यंते रमन्ते तत्र देवता।

viprāṇāṃ yatra pūjyaṃte ramante tatra devatā|

The place where Brahmins are worshipped, Gods also reside there. Otherwise the temple without respect for Brahmins also becomes a vaccum.

Hence,

ब्राह्मणातिक्रमो नास्ति विप्रा वेद विवर्जिताः।।

brāhmaṇātikramo nāsti viprā veda vivarjitāḥ||

Shri Krishna said- Even if a Brahmin is devoid of the Vedas, Even then one should not insult him. Because whether a basil leaf is big or small doesn't matter. It only does good in every situation.

Vedas have said that Brahmins reside in the mouth of the supreme Purusha. Every word that comes out of their mouth belongs to the great God. Their word is to be taken as the God himself has said.

विप्र प्रसादात् धरणी धरोहमम्।

विप्र प्रसादात् कमला वरोहम।

विप्र प्रसादात् अजिता जितोहम्।

विप्र प्रसादात् मम् राम नामम् ।।

vipra prasādāt dharaṇī dharohamam|

vipra prasādāt kamalā varohama|

vipra prasādāt ajitā jitoham|

vipra prasādāt mam rāma nāmam ||

As lord himself says:

"With the blessings of Brahmins alone I lift the earth. Otherwise no other man can bear this much weight. I became Narayan and got the boon of Lakshmi with their blessings alone. With their blessings alone I have achieved victory in battle and with the blessings of Brahmins alone, my name Ram has become immortal".

Therefore Brahmin is all worshipable all the ages. And the increasing insult of Brahmins in Kaliyuga is the main reason for the increase in sin.
