Revival of Kartikeya's worship:

Kartikeyo mahaveero shanmukho Agni nandanah l

Mahayogi kumarswamin Deva senapatim namah ll

Today is the incarnation day of lord Kartikeya, commander in chief of Indra's armies. He is a rare combination of extreme valour and pure knowledge at the same time.

He is the incarnation of greatest Yogi, sanatkumar, who gave boon to Shiva, Parvati and took birth as the great 6 headed one who killed the demon Tarakasur. (This is found in the background of Kartikeya pradnya vivardhan stotra). It's also world known that he killed many other demons like kraunchasura. In mohenjadaro a stone mural was found which indicated that the mahishasur was killed by Kartikeya. Kartikeya is worshipped through various vedic and tantrik practices. His worship was more prominent in North east india, Punjab, Maharashtra before it went to south.

According to the Vedic practice he was worshipped by Dhurta kalpa of atharvaveda . Which includes massive puja on shashti tithi with consecration of large Puja mandap, vratabandha, punyahvachan and other purva karmas and pujas, Kalash sthapana, puja, avaahan, daan, archana with secret ashtottara from atharvaveda samhita, japa homa, havan, tarpan, Marjan bramhan suvasini bhojan, bali etc..

This vrata was performed by kings of the past to win battles, accumulate wealth, to get blessed with progeny, long rule, respect, protection and welfare of the Kingdom. Many wealthy people would also perform this practice regularly on shashti to get the above blessings.

In tantras he is worshipped as per Kaumar tantras. This is a separate krama of tantras which venerate Guha as the supreme being. Like how Shri Vidya and many mahavidyas are practiced as krama tantras Kaumar tantras have level by level initiation into Kaumar cult. The shaktis and ganas of Kartikeya are worshipped in this cult which include Bala bahuchara, vetala, kushmanda, shashthi, pretasana, mahasimhi, raktakshi, vighneshwar, rakshasa and many other grahas and upar devatas. This was a well developed cult in ancient times but got destroyed by shaktas and ganapatyas in due course of time. This was very fierce vamachar based culture with many unnatural sexual practices and bali offerings. The devatas were very ugra and quick acting.

Many Kumar upasakas believe that the Shri yantra is actually the devasena yantra and later it was stolen by shaktas to take over the Kaumar cult and it's supremacy. Now his worship is reduced to some child form which is always dependent on his mother and brother. The great god and Yogi who gave Siva the knowledge of Pranava worshipped with some childish vegetarian upasana which is exactly opposite to his nature. The supreme Lion of the kaumara cult is reduced to a mere door keeper or a bed support to Lalita.

Worshipping kumara in true form gives indomitable intelligence, shastra knowledge, bramha dnyan, knowledge of the divine and self consciousness. It gives extreme valour, vigour, strength, potency etc.. it also bestows upon one lit of wealth, power, fame, children, health benefits etc.. But beyond these it gives ashta maha siddhis as Arunagiri got and it also takes one beyond the clutches of death as he's one of the few to defeat the death God Yama.

Anyways worshipping him by all vedic folks is need of the hour to protect vedic dharma from other monotheistic enemy religions and their demonic followers.

If anybody wishes to learn the long lost Vedic (Dhurta kalpa) or tantrik (Kaumara krama tantras) worship of the great Mahasena can approach us for initiation. As our gurudev has researched a lot in this field, did long sadhanas on lord kumara to recover many of the lost practices. Still some are missing but as we will grow in numbers, more research will happen, more sadhana, meditation will take place which will lead to higher access of past records and thus leading to a higher spread of kaumara consciousness.
