अवक्रशक्तिर्दिव्याग्निः, तमोहरणं तेजः परम्॥

तत्रोद्गतः सोमदेवः, तेजोरूपेण शोभते।

चतुर्थं रूपं सङ्गृह्य, ज्योतिर्मयं विचेष्टते॥

वायुरासीत् व्योममध्ये, व्याप्तं विश्वं महामुनिः।

सप्तसिन्धून् वहन् शोभं, सोमरसः प्रवर्तते॥

देवानामभिषेकाय, यज्ञभागो विभाजितः॥


प्रथमः सर्गः – अनन्तस्य यज्ञः


वन्दे सोमं सदाज्योतिः, देवानां धाम वैभवम्।

यस्य स्रोतः सततगत्या, वज्रिणं हर्षयत्यपि ॥ १॥


अग्निर्ज्वलति तेजोवह्निः, विद्युत्पथं प्रदीपयन्।

यज्ञे दीप्ते समापन्नः, सोमः स्रोतांसि धारयन् ॥ २॥


द्वितीयः सर्गः – सोमस्य रहस्यम्


न सोमो देवः, न सोमो पेयः, न सोमः चन्द्रबिम्बकः।

स एष ज्योतिः स्वरूपेण, विद्युदग्निः प्रवाहकः॥ ३॥


स वह्निर्जलदेहेषु, स वातेन प्रवर्तते।

स ब्रह्माण्डस्य संरक्षकः, विद्युत्कणप्रवाहकः ॥ ४॥


रुद्रस्य नेत्रज्योतिः सः, वज्रेण पतितः कदा।

सन्धुक्ष्यते महावातैः, विद्युत्पथं प्रबोधयन् ॥ ५॥


तृतीयः सर्गः – देवानां भागः


इन्द्रः विद्युत्प्रवाहः स्यात्, अस्विनौ च चुम्बकौ।

वरुणः प्रवहिष्यन्ति, आपः सोममिवोद्गतम् ॥ ६॥


अग्निरर्चिः समीरणं च, धारयन्ति नभस्वतीम्।

गृहस्थो वायुः सम्पीड्य, सोमं निर्माति यत्नतः ॥ ७॥


एका नःशतम् दुर्गाणि विपथन्ति, इन्द्रवज्रेण ध्वंसितम्।

रुद्रस्य शरशक्ति हि, लघुत्वेन प्रपद्यते ॥ ८॥


सविता त्वं प्रदीप्तानां, यश्च तेजस्विता स्थिरा।

तेजोमयं विश्वमेतत्, ओजस्तेजोमयं जगत् ॥ ९॥


चतुर्थः सर्गः – कालचक्रं


यज्ञो हि ब्रह्माण्डयोनि, तेजः स्रोतः सनातनः।

वेदे भाष्यं स विज्ञानं, ऋषिभिः कथितं पुरा ॥ १०॥


सूर्यरश्मिर्ज्वलन्नाद्यः, सोमस्रोतस्य पूर्वगः।

यज्ञस्य यन्त्रतन्त्रोऽसौ, यः प्रकाशं वितन्वते ॥ ११॥


सप्तर्षयः सप्ततन्त्रो, सप्तलोकप्रदीपितः।

गुरुत्वाकर्षणो ह्येष, सोमस्रवः प्रवर्तते ॥ १२॥


पञ्चमः सर्गः – सोमस्य विसर्गः


असौ सोमो महातेजाः, जायते यज्ञसंस्थले।

विद्युत्प्रवाहाकृत्यं च, दिशः सर्वाः प्रदीपयेत् ॥ १३॥


स प्रसरति व्योममध्ये, मरुतां घोषमुद्गतः।

प्रभासते सर्वलोकस्य, उषसि ज्योतिरुत्तमम् ॥ १४॥


तस्मै सोमाय नमोऽस्तु, विद्युत्सर्गस्य हेतवे।

यः प्रकाशो जगद्रूपः, ब्रह्माण्डे व्याप्तिमाश्रितः ॥ १५॥


समाप्तिः


एवं हि लोके यज्ञोऽयं महान्,

सोमः प्रवाहः सततं विधत्ते।

अन्तरिक्षगर्भे समुत्थितोऽयं,

शिलापीडाभ्यां निपतन्नुन्नतः॥


इन्द्रस्य वज्रेण गृहीतमूर्तिः,

रुद्रस्य वह्नेरपि दीप्तिमान् सः।

सावितृतेजोऽशनिनापि पूतः,

अश्विन्युगं चुम्बकतत्त्वयुक्तम्॥


दीप्यन् स सर्वं जगदेकवीर्यः,

ज्योतिर्नदी सृष्टिविलासभूमिः।

यस्य प्रवाहः सततं प्रवृत्तः,

नादेन गीतं परमं प्रकाशः॥


अथ कविवचनम्:


शश्वत्स्वर्गदीप्तिजालरमणीयं यद्विभात्यम्बरं,

रात्रौ यत्र मनोज्ञतारकगणाः कुर्वन्ति लीलां मुदा।

तत्रासीनः भानुजाम्भवमधुना सोमस्य दिव्यामृतम्,

भारद्वाज जगन्नाथकविरयं लेभे हि तत्त्वं परम् ॥


विद्युद्वेगशिखी महाजलधरो वायुः सुधांशुर्गतः,

देवा यज्ञमुपागताः सुरगणाः सृष्टिं परां स्थापयन्।

एवं दृष्टमिदं यथार्थमखिलं साक्षात्कृतं दैवतः,

सोमस्य प्रवहेन दीप्तमखिलं ज्योतिःस्वरूपं जगत् ॥


तेजोमयस्य सोमस्य प्रवाहः सर्वसंस्थितिः,

न चासौ पेयमात्रोऽस्ति, न चापि भूतचन्द्रमाः।

सोमः स्वयं महाज्योतिः, ब्रह्माण्डे दीप्तिमान्सदा,

एष ज्ञानमिदं पुण्यं, वाचाममृतशारदम् ॥


इति भारद्वाज जगन्नाथेन विरचितं दिव्यज्ञानं सोमगाथायाम्॥

vidyunnaddhaḥ somarasaḥ, parito vyomacañcalaḥ|

vaidyuto’yam rasaḥ śrīmān, varuṇena ca pālitaḥ||

prathamaḥ sargaḥ – anantasya yajñaḥ


vande somaṃ sadājyotiḥ, devānāṃ dhāma vaibhavam|

yasya srotaḥ satatagatyā, vajriṇaṃ harṣayatyapi || 1||


agnirjvalati tejovahniḥ, vidyutpathaṃ pradīpayan|

yajñe dīpte samāpannaḥ, somaḥ srotāṃsi dhārayan || 2||


dvitīyaḥ sargaḥ – somasya rahasyam


na somo devaḥ, na somo peyaḥ, na somaḥ candrabimbakaḥ|

sa eṣa jyotiḥ svarūpeṇa, vidyudagniḥ pravāhakaḥ|| 3||


sa vahnirjaladeheṣu, sa vātena pravartate|

sa brahmāṇḍasya saṃrakṣakaḥ, vidyutkaṇapravāhakaḥ || 4||


rudrasya netrajyotiḥ saḥ, vajreṇa patitaḥ kadā|

tṛtīyaḥ sargaḥ – devānāṃ bhāgaḥ


indraḥ vidyutpravāhaḥ syāt, asvinau ca cumbakau|

agnirarciḥ samīraṇaṃ ca, dhārayanti nabhasvatīm|

gṛhastho vāyuḥ sampīḍya, somaṃ nirmāti yatnataḥ || 7||


ekā naḥśatam durgāṇi vipathanti, indravajreṇa dhvaṃsitam|

rudrasya śaraśakti hi, laghutvena prapadyate || 8||


savitā tvaṃ pradīptānāṃ, yaśca tejasvitā sthirā|

tejomayaṃ viśvametat, ojastejomayaṃ jagat || 9||


caturthaḥ sargaḥ – kālacakraṃ


yajño hi brahmāṇḍayoni, tejaḥ srotaḥ sanātanaḥ|

vede bhāṣyaṃ sa vijñānaṃ, ṛṣibhiḥ kathitaṃ purā || 10||


sūryaraśmirjvalannādyaḥ, somasrotasya pūrvagaḥ|

yajñasya yantratantro’sau, yaḥ prakāśaṃ vitanvate || 11||


saptarṣayaḥ saptatantro, saptalokapradīpitaḥ|

gurutvākarṣaṇo hyeṣa, somasravaḥ pravartate || 12||


pañcamaḥ sargaḥ – somasya visargaḥ


asau somo mahātejāḥ, jāyate yajñasaṃsthale|

vidyutpravāhākṛtyaṃ ca, diśaḥ sarvāḥ pradīpayet || 13||


sa prasarati vyomamadhye, marutāṃ ghoṣamudgataḥ|

prabhāsate sarvalokasya, uṣasi jyotiruttamam || 14||


tasmai somāya namo’stu, vidyutsargasya hetave|

yaḥ prakāśo jagadrūpaḥ, brahmāṇḍe vyāptimāśritaḥ || 15||

evaṃ hi loke yajño’yaṃ mahān,

somaḥ pravāhaḥ satataṃ vidhatte|

antarikṣagarbhe samutthito’yaṃ,

śilāpīḍābhyāṃ nipatannunnataḥ||


indrasya vajreṇa gṛhītamūrtiḥ,

rudrasya vahnerapi dīptimān saḥ|

sāvitṛtejo’śanināpi pūtaḥ,

aśvinyugaṃ cumbakatattvayuktam||


dīpyan sa sarvaṃ jagadekavīryaḥ,

jyotirnadī sṛṣṭivilāsabhūmiḥ|

bhāradvāja jagannāthakavirayaṃ lebhe hi tattvaṃ param ||


vidyudvegaśikhī mahājaladharo vāyuḥ sudhāṃśurgataḥ,

devā yajñamupāgatāḥ suragaṇāḥ sṛṣṭiṃ parāṃ sthāpayan|

evaṃ dṛṣṭamidaṃ yathārthamakhilaṃ sākṣātkṛtaṃ daivataḥ,

The Song of Soma: The Cosmic Science of Creation


Introduction and Summary:


Since time immemorial, the luminous Brahman has pervaded the cosmos with light, An unbending force, a celestial fire, supreme radiance that dispels darkness.

From there arose Soma-Deva, shining forth in the form of pure light, Taking the fourth state, he moves as an effulgence across the cosmos.

The great wind, spread across the firmament, Carried the seven celestial rivers, from which Soma began to flow.

The electrified Soma-juice, trembling across the vast sky, Is filled with lightning’s energy, governed by Varuna.

Savitar, the gentle and resplendent force, drives this universe, Dispelling darkness, he guides Soma forward in its luminous path.

The Ashvins, ever moving in twin directions, Condense the fire of brilliance and uphold Soma as their essence.

Rudra, armed with his flaming shafts,

Burns away the darkness with his luminous arrows.

Indra, with his Vajra, struck fiercely,

Unleashing Soma with his might, protecting it with valor.

Agni blazes forth with great speed,

Shining at the altar, consuming Soma in his sacred flame.

The intensely radiant Soma-stream, rising upward like liquid fire, Carried by wind and heat, marks the very beginning of creation. Spreading across the sky, Soma resides within the stars, Illuminating their cosmic bodies with boundless light.

This Soma, full of radiant energy, is beyond consumption by any being,

It vibrates eternally like lightning, resounding with the dawn.

One who realizes the pure, undivided essence of Soma, That being is truly wise, for Soma is the oblation shared among the gods.


First Canto: - The Eternal Sacrifice of Creation


Salutations to Soma, the eternal radiance, the splendor of the Gods,

Whose flowing stream in ceaseless motion delights even the mighty Vajra-bearer Indra.


Agni blazes, carrying the fire of energy,

Illuminating the pathways of lightning,

Within the sacred cosmic sacrifice,

Soma flows, holding rivers of light.


Second Canto: - The Mystery of Soma


Soma is not a God, nor a drink, nor the Moon itself,

He is Radiance personified, the flow of electric fire!


He is the fire within waters, he moves through the winds,

He is the preserver of the cosmos, the conduit of electric flux.


He is the light from Rudra’s third eye, struck by the thunderbolt,

He is ignited by great winds, awakening the path of lightning.


Third Canto: - The Role of the Gods


Indra is the electric force, the Ashvins are the magnetic twins,

Varuna guides the flowing waters, as Soma rises upward.


Agni’s flames and Vayu’s breath sustain the sky’s expanse,

The House of Space compresses Soma, refining it with great effort.


Ninety-nine fortresses crumble before Indra’s Vajra,

Rudra’s arrow-light penetrates through with sheer intensity.


Savita, you are the radiant force, your brilliance stands firm,

This entire universe is filled with light, an ocean of plasma-radiance.


Fourth Canto: - The Cosmic Cycle


The sacrifice itself is the womb of the cosmos,

Its eternal flow is radiant energy,

The Vedas reveal this cosmic science,

As told by the ancient seers.


The solar rays blaze forth, as the path of Soma,

This sacred sacrifice is a great mechanism,

Spreading its radiance across the expanse.


The seven sages (Sapta Rishis) are the seven cosmic forces,

Illuminating the seven realms,

This gravitational pull drives the Soma flow,

Moving across the expanding creation.


Fifth Canto: - The Cosmic Flow of Soma


This great Soma, filled with luminous fire,

Is born from the sacred sacrifice,

Its electric currents surge forth,

Illuminating all directions of space.


He expands through the celestial ether,

Riding upon the winds of space,

He shines forth upon the worlds,

Like the dawn of supreme radiance.


To this Soma, our salutations,

The source of cosmic electric force,

He is the light embodying the universe,

Pervading the expanse of the cosmic sphere.


Conclusion:


Thus, in this great cosmic yajña,

Soma, the essence of plasma, flows eternally. Born from the press-stones of space, Guided by Indra’s Vajra and Rudra’s fire, Blessed by Savitar’s radiance and Ashvins’ magnetism,

He illuminates the universe,

A sacred hymn of eternal light.


Author's note:


In the eternal radiance of heaven, where the celestial sky glows,

Where the stars perform their joyous dance in the silent night,

There sat Bharadwaja Jagannatha, immersed in the sacred elixir of Soma,

And in that moment, the highest cosmic truth was revealed unto him.


The lightning flashes, the thundering winds roar, the moonlight fades,

The divine forces gather, sustaining the eternal sacrifice of the cosmos.

Thus was the truth beheld, the cosmic vision unveiled before his eyes—

The universe itself shines forth as Soma, flowing in radiant splendor.


The luminous Soma flows as the foundation of all existence,

It is neither a mere drink nor the shining moon.

Soma is the very radiance of the cosmos, forever blazing,

This is the sacred knowledge, a nectar of eternal wisdom.


Thus completes the divine poetry, composed by Bharadwaja Jagannatha in the Song of Soma.
