Maharshi Kapilacharya pranita Narasimha upasana:

Narasimha, the primordial lord of yoga was first worshipped by Bramha for the creation of the world, followed by Vishnu to get power of subjugation and to kill Hiranyakashyapu, then by rudra to destroy the tripuras. Thus a glorious tradition of Narasimha upasakas has been existing since time immemorial. He is worshipped by Rama, Krishna, Pandavas, Ganesha, Skanda, saptarishis, durvasa, shankara, Ramanuja, Madhwa, Chaitanya, Mahidhara, shridhara etc.

Amongst these upasakas a peculiar name is Maharshi Kapila, the son of sage Kardama and Devahuti. Also an incarnation of lord Vishnu, who gave the philosophy of Sankhya yoga. He has done an extensive upasana of lord Narasimha to get the complete knowledge and accomplishment in the field of yoga. With his blessings only he could develop the sankhya philosophy.

We came across maharshi Kapilacharya's Narasimha upasana during a visit to an old Sanskrit scholar who was a Pancharatrika Vaishnav but not from Ramanujacharya's sect. This adept was an extreme Narasimhopasaka. We had a detailed discussion on different topics related to Narasimha sadhana. In that discussion he showed us an old manuscript called 'nṛsiṃha caryā'. That manuscript had only 140 odd pages. It was a protected version of tadapatra writings in the old handwritten Sanskrit. That book contained the principles of Sankhya yoga, cosmology and upasana patala of Narasimha which was authored by Maharshi kapila.

There are extensive prayogas given in the manuscript to attain: amaratva (immortality), manonasha (killing of mind), atmavritti (awakening the inner universe), to obtain ekatmata with the divine (Narasimha), moksha (culmination into the param tattva), bramha dnyana, removal of external and internal enemies, eradication of karmic beeja or patterns, kundalini awakening through yoga and mantra, ashta maha siddhis, gauna siddhis and kshudra siddhis, pancha tattva siddhi, wish manifestation, Purna arogya prapti roga nasha and dirghayushya; happy, harmonious and tranquil life.

The book contained the yoga margi diksha vidhi into Narasimha upasana, special pranayama paddhatis, dhyana paddhatis, lifestyle lessons for the initiates, different rare mantra Sadhanas of lord Narasimha given by Maharshi kapilacharya. Which were as follows:

- Narasimha shodashakshara mantra

- Narasimha sahasrakshari mantra

- Narasimha ayutakshari mantra

- Narasimha jagatkshobhana mala mantra

- Narasimha khadgamala mantra.

This was a very rare and exotic find in the Narasimha upasana field. The diksha paddhati was also given in detail which contained the processes of manas shuddhi, prana shuddhi and sharira shuddhi, mantra diksha, anugraha/ shaktipat into the shishya's sahasrara to muladhara, activating the chakras and opening the bramha granthi, awakening the kundalini, establishing the lord the heart of disciple and conclusion with havan and upadesha. Here shaktipat or anugraha can also directly free the disciple from all the karmic bondages and ignorance but it depends upon the bhagwan's will and guru's capacity. The end result obtained during the diksha will depend upon the giving capacity of the guru and the receiving strength of the shishya.

This upasana of lord Narasimha given by Maharshi kapilacharya is a very high level worship of the supreme lord which can literally grant anything. Gurudev himself have practiced it for the last so many years and followed it as the main upasana paddhati. Today we thought of bringing this in light so that all should get to know about the rare devotees of lord Narasimha, their achievements and lord's wider presence in the universal scenario.

This upasana is for proper devotees, sadhakas and people whose more emphasis is on spiritual development along with a peaceful material life. People in the path of yoga will quickly attain perfection through this upasana. One who is a vaishnav or sankhya by philosophy or a yogi or a non sectarian bramhana can practice this upasana. This path leads to a very high level of knowledge, enlightenment and siddhis finally giving salvation or deliverance to the jiva.

The diksha process involved is very powerful and so is the sadhana. The rituals are a bit complex in the beginning until one successfully starts the inward journey. After that the sadhana is more of antarmukhi. Gurudev have also developed a level based system to make it easy for all the learners.

Full faith in the guru and Bhagwan, full surrender(tana, mana, dhana) to the guru and Bhagwan and a full devotion towards the guru and Bhagwan are the pre-requisites of this marga.
