Secret behind the success of any upasana:

Extravagant worship, huge chantings, rituals and big mantras recitations are unimportant and unyielding as long as the seeker has not understood the nada (sound), spanda(vibration/ energy), swaroopa (true form) and praroopa (approachable form) of the mantra & devata. One needs to connect to the devata and mantra mentally and emotionally to achieve it's physical results. Visual contemplation of the mantra, devata and other secret kriyas is very important while chanting. Purity of conduct and emotions are also must. Compatibility with the energy of the mantra - devata is also compulsory in producing the results. There should not be a simple state of acceptance of random incoming energy.

Worship done for 15 minutes or half an hour with full technical knowledge and adhering to above mentioned points, turns into a highly effective practice. When you get to know about the deity's nature, qualities, energy structure, compatibility, adversity, method of receiving and absorbing energy you can immediately see the results manifesting. Technique to connect with the energy of the deity is to adjust to it's Physical condition (swaroop), posture( mudra), behavior (nature/ character), thoughts (tattva), have knowledge of emotional structure of that deity.

It doesn't matter how much chanting or for how long the worship is done. What matters is whether it is done in the right way or not. Those who beat the line often don't even reach the line.
