Sage Narad

Narad is amongst the 10 great prajapatis born directly from various parts of bramha. Narad was born from his mind. He is a gandharva by yoni and foremost one amongst them. In his previous birth Narad was a bramhan who did severe penance to get darshan of lord Vishnu and seek immortality. When Vishnu was pleased with his unwavering penance, he appeared before him and asked him for a boon. When Narad asked for immortality, then lord Vishnu said, "Bramha writes the fate of all jeevas at the beginning of the kalpa(Aeon), so I cannot give you immortality now and alter the chain of events already planned, but I will make you an immortal in the next kalpa for a manvantar and you will be known and revered as my foremost devotee and devarushi. Thus Narad was born today, the way we know him.

Narad has the purest heart and mind. He is the well wisher of all without any motives. His task is to roam in the entire creation and gather news. He spreads the pure devotion and upasana of paramatma Vishnu in all the worlds. He has the power to go into any loka. He is revered as the devrishi. Narad cannot be in the same place for longer time due to the curse given to him by his brother Daksha prajapati for making his 100 sons renunciates rather than house holders. Narada's gurus are brihaspati, Sanat Kumaras etc.. Narad is very famous for his bhakti and cocky pastimes. But he was also a great multi-talented man. He was chatushashti (64) kala and chaturdasha (14) Vidya sampanna. He was expert in Vedas, niti shastras, nyaya sutras, bhakti sutras, tantras,samagan( music), astrology etc...

Some of the famous books by Narad are: Narad Shruti, Narad smruti, Narad samhita, Narad bhakti sutras,Narad pancharatra agamas, Narad niti and nyaya sutras etc.. Narad was the walking signature of lord Vishnu. Who ever was blessed by devarshi Narad, they were directly blessed by lord Vishnu. Narad has changed lives of many people and with his blessings he has converted them in precious gems for the society. Some of the examples of narada's disciples are: Dhruva, pralhad, daku ratnakar (Valmiki) etc... Narad is not only a great devotee of lord Vishnu but a profound tantrik.

He is the main acharya or rushi of the baglamukhi mahavidya krama. He has also the created of musical instrument Veena. He is also the founder or propagator of the keertan parampara. He is revered and welcomed in all the lokas may it be the sapta swargas or sapta paataalas. He is the only one who tells the truth to everyone without thinking about the repercussions.

Infact when people who want to reach close to the supreme lord and are not meeting a proper guru, then they should pray devrishi Narad for guidance and help. With his blessings only many people have achieved the supreme state of consciousness and intoxicated state of devotion to the paramatma.

Today, we remember the great sage on the and seek for his blessings in this dark age of Kali to keep us on the path of dharma and keep us connected with the lord.
