Great achievements of Indra:

Now I shall proclaim the great activities of Indra, the Lord of devas.

He killed the indestructible, He cleaved open the waters, He split off the strongholds of mountains. He killed the indestructible Ahi lying over the mountain. Tvaṣtṛ fashioned the sun resembling vajra for Him. Like bellowing milch cows running to their calves he made waters run straight to the ocean, unhindered.

As the Mighty armed warrior He chose soma for Himself. He drunk from the three breakers of Soma. Wielding his vajra, he annihilated the foremost of Ahins. While destroying the Ahins he dismantled the illusions of low class tricksters. Since then He, the greatest of all Lords, who generates the sun and dawn has found no rival.

He, Indra, destroyed Vṛtra - the obstacle creator, by ripping apart his shoulders with unfailing Vajra. Like a mighty tree fallen with an axe, collapsed mighty Vṛtra breathing his last. Like a looser, like a coward Vṛtra fell to ground smitten by the great soma drunk Lord. Who can survive when challenged by the greatest of Lords - Indra. Footless and handless, his joints broken by the blows of Vajra, Vṛtra embraced the ground, like a castrated bull, without any potency remaining, shattered to pieces.

The one who has Indra as an enemy lay in perpetual darkness. The waters - once stood as wives of Dāsa, having Ahi as their herdsman. The waters - those restricted like cows owned by Paṇis, Indra having annihilated Vṛtra, uncovered.

O the ultimate Deva ! O the Supreme ! You won the cattle, O warrior you won Soma, you released the seven streams of water ! Obeisances unto you ! O Indra !

He, Indra rules over all. As a rim of a wheel envelopes the spokes, so He has enveloped all.
