The chariot of the Sun in each month is inhabited by different groups. Which comprise of the presiding Aditya, samagayaka (mantra chanting ) Rishi, Vaadaka (instrumentalist) Gandharva, Nartaki (dancing) Apsara, gaayaka (singing) Yaksha, Chatravata (parasol) Serpent, and dasa (sevaka) Rakshasa.
1. "In the month of Chaitra," the Apsara named Karsthula, the Aditya named Dhata, the Rishi named Pulastya, the Serpent named Vasuki, the Yaksha named Rathbhrit, the Rakshasa named Heti, and the Gandharva named Tumburu - these seven are the monthly officials.
2. In the month of Vaishakh - the Aditya named Aryaman, the Rishi named Pulah, the Yaksha named Rathija, the Apsara named Punjikasthala, the Serpent named Kachchhvir, the Gandharva named Narad, and the Rakshasa named Prehit reside.
3. In the month of Jyeshtha - the Aditya named Mitra, the Rishi named Atri, the Serpent named Takshak, the Rakshasa named Paurusheya, the Apsara named Menaka, the Gandharva named Haha, and the Yaksha named Rathswan reside.
4. In the month of Ashadh - the Aditya named Varuna, the Rishi named Vashishtha, the Serpent named Nag, the Apsara named Sahjanya, the Gandharva named Huhu, the Rakshasa named Rath, and the Yaksha named Rathchitra reside.
5. In the month of Shravana - the Aditya named Indra, the Gandharva named Vishvavasu, the Yaksha named Stotra, the Serpent named Elapatra, the Rishi named Angira, the Apsara named Pramlocha, and the Rakshasa named Sarpi reside on the chariot of the Sun.
6. In the month of Bhadrapad - the Aditya named Vivasvan, the Gandharva named Ugrasen, the Rishi named Bhrigu, the Yaksha named Aapurn, the Apsara named Anumlocha, the Serpent named Shankhapal, and the Rakshasa named Vyaghra reside on the chariot of the Sun.
7. In the month of Ashwin - the Aditya named Pusha, the Gandharva named Vasuruchi, the Rakshasa named Vata, the Rishi named Gautama, the Serpent named Dhananjay, the Gandharva named Sushen, and the Apsara named Ghritachi reside on the chariot of the Sun.
8. In the month of Kartik - the Aditya named Parjanya, the Gandharva named Vishvavasu, the Rishi named Bharadwaj, the Serpent named Airavat, the Apsara named Vishvachi, the Yaksha named Senjit, and the Rakshasa named Aap reside on the chariot of the Sun.
9. In the month of Margashirsha - the Aditya named Anshuman, the Rishi named Kashyap, the Yaksha named Takshrya, the Serpent named Mahapadma, the Apsara named Urvashi, the Gandharva named Chitrasen, and the Rakshasa named Vidyut reside on the chariot of the Sun.
10. In the month of Paush - the Aditya named Bhaga, the Rishi named Kratu, the Gandharva named Ushnayu, the Rakshasa named Sphurj, the Serpent named Kakortak, the Yaksha named Arishtanemi, and the Apsara named Purvachitti reside on the chariot of the Sun.
11. In the month of Magha - the Aditya named Twashta, the Rishi named Jamadagni, the Serpent named Kambal, the Apsara named Tilottama, the Rakshasa named Brahmopet, the Yaksha named Ritjit, and the Gandharva named Dhritarashtra reside on the chariot of the Sun.
12. In the month of Phalgun - on the chariot of the Sun reside the Aditya named Vishnu, the Serpent named Ashvatar, the Apsara named Rambha, the Gandharva named Suryavarcha, the Yaksha named Satyajit, and the Rishi named Vishvamitra.
