Ancestral rites are the most important rituals of Sanatan dharma. Our ancestors are the connecting link between this bhautik and sukshma jagat i.e.tjis physical and subtle world. They are the ones because of which one gets this physical body to interact with the rest of the world. They are the blood and DNA in our body. Ancestors control wealth, health, dharma(marriage and completion of our life duties) and progeny. People whose ancestors are not happy they face many problems in life which cannot be solved with any other means. Ancestors when dead become pretas and when their shraddha rituals are performed they go into pitra yoni till their soul is disposed off to the next journey based on their karmas.

When a deceased ancestor doesn't receive shraddha Anna for three years, he/she once again becomes pret and curses the successors there by causing many sorts of physical, mental, material and spiritual problems. If ancestors are pleased almost 50% problems are resolved on their own. Such is the importance and glory of pitras, who once pleased, are never hesitant to give highest boons from ultimate material success to ultimate spiritual realisation.

Now problem arises in modern society who don't know about the rituals, their importance and time periods. Maximum people have forgotten their ancestors. Many are living abroad, who cannot perform such extensive rituals due to unavailability of resources and priests.

Fear not. For such people scriptures have stated a way and i.e. to get it done through a qualified priest. A bramhan has the right to do any ritual on behalf of his host. The ritual gets full results as per the procedure followed by the priest and faith of the host.
